We are the destination the heart desires. Our guests, the people who have visited us and become a part of our family and their experiences are a testament to that. Our history goes back a long way to our founding grandfather who strove tirelessly for the betterment and development of the Himachali regions. Our hospitality is a testament to the legacy which comes with our attitude towards humanity, of great compassion and service, The Great Escape Tirthan has been a beloved destination for all people across ages and time, regardless of the countries and continents they call home. Families, couples, solo travelers, people who just want to cut off, friends who want to reconnect, flames which could be rekindled, all alike have called us their go to escape over the years. Our commitment to providing exceptional service, amicable amenities and unprofessed commitment to care has made us a leader in the guest house, homestay and lodging industry in Himachal. The place we call home is a quaint village encapsulated as much in the clouds as in its own mysteries. Just a short distance away from Gushaini and one of the closest villages to the gateway of GHNP, it is a stark reminder to the days of olden folklore, where the only sound you heard was your own whisper, people were hearty, open and welcoming, life was a tad more fulfilling, care was ample. Come live this experience. Enliven yourself.
The beautiful landscape of Gushaini is the foundation earth on which the legendary Raju Bharti Guest House was housed. This picturesque hamlet still provides an escape from the maddening crowd, relatively untouched, preserving its pristine beauty and tranquil ambiance. Often referred to as the "Gateway to the Great Himalayan National Park," it is the land of the majestic mountains, lush greenery, and the tranquil Tirthan River. Its unspoiled charm makes it ideal for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Bhiyali is just a few kms away from Gushaini, a quieter, idyllic retreat and even closer to the GHNP, infact, with a large part of it lying within it. So from the same family which has had the pleasure and honour to host so many, welcome to our abode.
Chehni Kothi, is a historic tower located in the picturesque Tirthan Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Built in traditional Himalayan Kath-Kuni architecture using wood and stone, this five-story structure dates back hundreds of years. Originally a fort and residence for royalty, it showcases intricate carvings and craftsmanship. Surrounded by lush forests and mountain views, Cheni Kothi exudes timeless charm, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage. A wonder for its time, it stands as a grand sentinel and overlooks the entire mountain ranges, making it one of the must visit places for people traversing through this part of the valley.
Jalori Pass, located at an altitude of about 10,800 feet in Himachal Pradesh, is a breathtaking high-altitude mountain pass that connects the Kullu and Shimla districts. Surrounded by dense oak and conifer forests, the pass offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. It serves as a gateway to scenic trekking trails, such as the one leading to Serolsar Lake and Raghupur Fort. Jalori Pass is popular among adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers, providing a tranquil escape and a chance to experience the region's pristine beauty.
A beautiful, tranquil, crystal-clear lake surrounded by dense forests and alpine meadows. The lake holds spiritual significance and is associated with local deities, especially Budhi Nagin, believed to reside in its depths. A 5-kilometer trek from Jalori Pass leads to the lake, offering mesmerizing views of the surrounding mountains. Its unspoiled beauty and peaceful environment make Serolsar Lake a perfect destination for nature lovers and those seeking solitude.
It follows Tirthan river from Gushaini to its origin, Tirath glacier. This trek gives you everything, from verdant meadows to snow-clad ranges and Himalayan architecture to a rich wildlife. A moderate trek with some difficult trails, one can easily get lost in the forest without a guide and the chances of witnessing a wild animal is pretty high.
A lesser-known yet scenic trail, offering stunning views of the Himalayas. Starting from the Tirthan Valley, the trek takes you through dense oak and pine forests, alpine meadows, and serene landscapes. It is perfect for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts seeking solitude and unspoiled beauty. The trail also holds spiritual significance, as it is dotted with ancient temples and local folklore.
Barasari Meadow is located beyond Sharchi Village. The trail passes through the ancient Jamala Village, which feels like a step back in time. Barsari or badasari meadow serves as the starting point for the trek to Lambri Top (or Lambhri Top) and Jalori Pass.
Starting at an altitude of 2100 m, much higher than Gushaini, the starting point of Rolla and all other Tirthan valley treks, the total ascent is comparatively less although you reach a maximum altitude of 3670 m at Marahni. Kundri meadow is located on the way to Marahni. The view from the top is amazing. Some mammals can be observed on this trek as well, mostly wild sheeps (Goral) and Black Bears (or even the Brow bear).
The lake is guarded by thick tall pine trees on all sides. Next to the lake is Budhi Nagin temple. Serolsar Lake is surrounded by a narrow track and a fence around it. The Serolsar Lake wears stunning colours during different times of the year. The lake looks white during winter, half snow-covered and half green during spring and summer, and lush green during monsoon and post-monsoon. The lake is situated at an altitude of 10,170 ft. To access the lake, you’ve to trek for 5 km. The trek starts from Jalori Pass, the highest altitude point that connects Kullu valley and Shimla Valley.
After a long trek passing through mountain tops, offering excellent views of Shrikhand Mahadev and covering waterfalls through the beautiful bowl meadow of Kullu Sarahan, a walk through an oak forest would get us to the Bashleo Pass, providing an unparalleled view of the Himalayas. Though not a short trek, not everything wonderful comes without a little bit of sweat and exercise.
